Ian Matheson

(19??-19??)

Ian Matheson worked as an animator for SuperAds in1930, and then for Publicity Pictures until he was called up for service in World War II.

According to Ken Clark, who I think got the story from Laurie Price, Mathesom was made Films Liason Officer responsible to the Light Anti-Aircraft Division and promptly commissioned Publicity Pictures to make gunnery instructionals.

After the War he returned to Publicity Pictures, which continued to make training and public information films under the name National Interest Picture Productions.

I can find no more information: the spelling of his name itself is in doubt. The staff lists that appeared in The Cine-Technician give 'Mathieson', but since they also misspell Chris Millett's name (only one 'T') I consider them unreliable. Gifford gives 'Matherson' for the one entry in his Filmography, but I doubt this spelling as well. In a letter to Giles in 1955, listing the personnel of SuperAds, Laurie Price spells it 'Matheson', and it is this spelling I am going with, until proved otherwise.
