Annie O'Dell

So far I have been unable to find any biographical details for Annie O'Dell.

She may have started work with Halas & Batchelor – the first credit I have found is as an assistant animator on their 1973 production Making Music Together, a film to motivate the salesmen of a US pharmaceutical company.

She was also an assistant animator on "It's a Dog's Life" (1974), a ten minute film by Bill Melendez Productions featuring Alex Graham's newspaper comic strip hound Fred Basset. This was presumably a pilot that resulted in the TV series of 5 minute Fred Basset episodes they made for the BBC in 1976. (Victor Spinetti and Ann Beach voiced Fred's owners in both, but George A Cooper, as the thinking voice of Fred, was replaced for the series by Lionel Jeffries.)

She worked as an animator on a couple of live-action documentary films for Platypus Films, and was an animator on the Bill Melendez Productions feature Dick Deadeye, or Duty Done (1975), a mash-up of Gilbert & Sullivan operas with characters designed by Ronald Searle.

She worked on the film of Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas (1991) for TVC and then on some episodes of that studio's TV series The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends.

She also joined the London animation units that contributed to the US features All Dogs go to Heaven 2 and Space Jam, and the video game of Disney's Pinocchio.
